I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

It was been awhile since my last post, December has been crazy busy leaving no time for me to blog. The dream of a white Christmas came true when it began snowing on Christmas Eve afternoon. Kade was amazed by the snow, he stood at the back door pointing saying "Whoa!" The snow was beautiful, we didn't play much in it because the wind was so strong that day so we mostly enjoyed the view from inside the house. On Christmas Eve Tim's dad and my brother came over for lunch; Tim cooked a really good lunch. They both left early because of the fastly sticking snow on the roads. The 3 of us stayed inside playing and watching "A Christmas Story" on t.v. I had seen parts of the movie but never watched the whole movie, Tim knew every word of the movie. When Kade went to bed Tim got started on the 100 piece train table Kade was getting for Christmas. The next morning Kade woke up kind of grumpy, but his little face lit up when he saw the train table. It was so much fun to watch him this year. Here are a few pictures from Christmas Eve...

Tim making a snowman. Yes, he is wearing my pink gloves and yes he is so embarrassed by this picture.
20 minutes of bundling up for 5 minutes in the snow.

Our house in the snow.

Our backyard was covered in snow and the wind was blowing things everywhere.

So excited for Santa to come!

"Mommy, I want the hammer!!"

Today when we got home, Kade found the hammer that I guess Tim had left out the night before when he was hanging some pictures. I pulled the hammer away from him after much struggling and put it on the counter. Kade did the usual throwing himself down on the ground and screaming like how dare I take something from him. After his fit was over he got up and went off to his playroom. I started cooking dinner and was talking on the phone not really paying attention to what he was doing. Then I turned around to find Kade standing on a stool next to the counter reaching for the hammer. The little stinker had gone and gotten one of his stools from his little table and brought it to the kitchen to climb and get the hammer back!

Ear Infections

Friday morning when we woke up Kade had 102.5 temperature. I have been so paranoid of this horrible swine flu that is going around so I was freaking out. Tim had a deadline to meet at work that ended on Friday so I had to stay home with Kade. I love staying home with him and feel guilty if I go to work when he is sick, but when you are a teacher not going to work is such a stressful deal especially when you don't know your not going until that morning and your room is not ready for a sub. I feel guilty for missing work and not being prepared and I feel guilty for feeling guilty about work when I should only be caring about my poor sick baby. Maybe it's just my personality but I just hate the feeling of my classroom being in complete disorder and the kids having a stranger teach them for the day and you never know if the sub is going to be good or crazy. When I plan to have a sub I always have everything layed out and in order with specific notes written out. Balancing work and family has been the hardest part of having a baby for me. I feel so guilty all the time when it comes to Kade and my job. My problem is I feel like I have to be perfect at all my jobs; wife, mommy, and teacher.
So back to Friday morning; sorry I got a little off track. It was 6:15 in the morning and I rushed to call in a sub and type out my 4 pages of sub plans for the day. I emailed my sub plans to my team to give to the sub. The whole time poor miserable Kade is laying next to me burning up with fever and whining. He would not go to Tim, he only wanted me. So I was typing those 4 pages with 1 hand practically the whole time.
At 9:00 when were able to go to the doctor. It was packed and I was freaking out that if he didn't already have swine flu we were going to catch it in that office. Big kids kept walking out looking miserable. Two hours later we left the office after finding out the flu test was negative, thank goodness, and poor Kade had a double ear infection. He has really struggled with ear infections and I am concerned we are going to have to get the tubes put in his ears. The doctor wants to see us back in 3 weeks and said that we will discuss his ear infection history then. Since he was tiny and got his first ear infection I have been so scared that he is going to have to get tubes put in his ears. Everyone tells me that it is no big deal, but I just get so freaked out by hospitals and don't want my little baby to have to go through that. Since my mom died I absolutely hate going to hospitals. I know that most people come out of the hospital when they go in, but it is like I have this crazy fear inside of me that when people go to hospitals they don't come out. I know it sounds crazy I just hate going to hospitals to visit people or for any reason. I hate seeing people I care about sitting in that hospital bed, there is just something about it. I know in the long run the tubes will probably be the best thing for Kade so he doesn't have to suffer with ear infections anymore.

We Moved!!

Yes, the Bailey's have moved again!! Are you surprised?? I didn't think you would be, considering if you know my husband you know he is addicted to moving. Our old house sold really quickly and we were lucky that the new home was finished just in time, so we didin't have to move twice. We moved last Friday and hired movers this time and it was so great. Saturday and Sunday we got all the boxes unpacked. Now on to decorating which is the fun part.
I'm trying to decide on what to paint in Kade's big boy room. I absolutely loved his jungle themed nursery with the jungle animals painted on the wall and the palm tree in the corner. I love the tree so much I'm going to paint it again in his play room. I have kind of been thinking about doing a beach theme room with surf boards or I also like the idea of doing his room in a baseball theme too. If you have any good ideas let me know.
The new house is great, I really like it alot. I really wasn't happy about moving at first; I loved my old house and just didn't want to move. But I really think this house is a perfect fit for us. It has exactly what we want and the layout works great for us. The neighborhood is really quiet and the people on our street are all really nice, we met most of them the first two days we were here. I made Tim promise we would stay here for a LONG time and he agreed. I told him he was going to have to give up his broker's license if he even mentioned moving anytime soon. :) Come visit us soon!!

House of Blues

A few weeks ago Angie and Keith invited Tim and I to go to the House of Blues to see a band they like. We didn't know the band, but we had never been to the House of Blues and thought it would be fun. This new school year has been really stressful, so it was nice to get out on a Friday night with Tim, Angie, and Keith and not worry about work for a night. The band we saw play was Graham Colton. He was so good; in fact Tim and I mostly just listen to his music in the car now. Kade even loves rocking out in the car to Graham Colton's music; he shakes his little head back in forth in his car seat and bangs the arm rest with his drumstick. Graham Colton has had 1 hit song on the radio that you might know; it was an American Idol song one year called "Best Days." The show was awesome and I would recommend that you look up his music. We are excited for him to come back to Dallas again. Also the House of Blues is a pretty neat place, you should go there sometime if you have never been.

Living On The Edge

I have been back to work for 2 weeks now and this was my first week with kids. So Kade has been at his new babysitter's house for two weeks now. I drop him off on my way this year because it is closer to my work. Everyday he has screamed and hung on me not to leave; which makes it a very hard morning for mommy and Kade. Miss Linda said that as soon as I leave he stops crying and eats his breakfast, but it still always makes me feel pretty awful and guilty for leaving. Everyone I talk to says that it is just a phase and he should get over that soon, so I'm really hoping they are right. We really like his new babysitter and he seems to have a good time when he is there; she said he doesn't stop playing all day long.
Kade had a runny nose for about a week that was pretty bad. Everytime he gets a runny nose I am always scared he is going to get an ear infection because he usually does. The scary thing is that he never gets fever with ear infections usually so we never really know when to take him to the doctor. Kade is a really active boy and lots of people have told me that he likes to live on the "edge" because he really has no fear of anything. So I should have know that it would just be a matter of time before he got hurt. On Tuesday I had a pretty wild day at work; I won't elaborate on the blog about that. When I went to pick up Kade he had a big scrape on his face. Miss Linda said that he was carrying a ball his size and fell outside on her patio. She said that he had been pretty whiney and clumsy all day. She said that being clumsy was a sign of an ear infection but he had not had fever.
I called Tim on the way home crying of course saying that I thought Kade had an ear infection and I needed to take him to Care Now. I will admit I can be a little dramatic at times and so now this sounds really silly, but I was crying hysterically telling Tim I was scared to take Kade to the doctor because they were going to see how awful his face looked and think we didn't take care of him and then they would take Kade away from us. I know really over DRAMATIC, but I was a very worried and tired mommy. Tim assured me they would not take Kade away and that he would meet me there.
We got to the clinic and they said it would be an hour wait and that they would call my cell phone when they had a room ready. So we went home because I wanted to try to give him some dinner. When we got home he was so fussy and would not let me put him down, so I made him a sandwich with one hand and then the phone rang saying they were ready for us. It was quicker that I had thought, so I had to rush and put everything back in the refrigerator still holding a screaming Kade. I rushed out of the house and locked the door behind me, got Kade in his seat, and then went to start the car and realized I just locked my keys in the house. So again I called Tim crying and told him they were ready for us and I locked my keys in the house. He was close to being home and got there in about 10 minutes to drive us to the clinic.
When we got there they called us right in and first had to weigh Kade and check his ear rate. O.k on a normal day he is has stranger anxiety pretty bad, but especially on this day he felt like crap and did not want a stranger touching him. He was screaming a wiggling pretty bad making it really hard to get his heart rate. The nurse kept huffing and rolling her eyes at him. I was seriously about to lose it on that woman when she finally left and got another nurse to come in. The new nurse was really patient and nice and was able to get what they needed. The doctor confirmed an ear infection on both ears and gave him an antibiotic. Poor Kade fell asleep in my lap as the doctor was explaining everything to us.
The next day Kade felt much better and was back to living on the "edge" as usual. He played and ate well at the babysitter. When we got home that night I caught him climb on the window ledge and stand on top of the trash can trying to get the phone off the counter. So I am pretty sure our little stunt man will continue to surprise us with trips to the clinic.
Hope next week is less eventful. :)

This picture was taken a few days later, the pitiful face is not because he is in pain it's because he is mad at me for not letting him climb on the trash can.

Disney World

We had so much fun at Disney World!! My favorite part was watching Kade's reaction to all the characters. He loved them and wasn't scared of them at all. It was so fun to watch him point at everything he saw. When I was a kid we went to Disney World and I had an autograph book that I got characters to sign. So of course we had to get Kade an autograph book and his picture with the characters.
We ate at this really fun place at Hollywood Studios called The Prime Time Diner. The place looked like an old kitchen from the 50's. They have old televisions up and an old refrigerator. While you are waiting to go to your table you wait in the "living room" that looks just like an old living room from a scene in an old t.v. show. Mom screams your name when it's your turn to be seated; they say "Bailey kids time for dinner!!" Then "mom" is your waitress and all the people around you are the kids also, so she introduces you to everyone in the room. It was so funny because Tim got in trouble for wearing his hat to the table so "mom" made him set our table. Also Tim got in trouble for not eating his vegetables. It was such a fun place to eat.
We went to all 4 parks and were very tired at the end of our time there. We bought Kade a Mickey that he sleeps with now; he loves his Mickey and always hugs and kisses him.
