We Finally Made The Move!

O.k, so I have a confession to make.... Kade has been sleeping in the pack 'n' play in our room since he was born. My goal was to move him to his own room over Christmas break and then it was over spring break. Well I did not meet any of those goals. It sounds silly but I just wanted him to be right in the same room with me all night. Well on Sunday night I'm not sure what came over me but after we did our nightly routine I just decided to put Kade in his own bed in his room. The rest of the night I kept asking Tim if he thought Kade would be okay and I kept telling myself people put their kids to bed in their own rooms every night and everything is fine. We got his night light and humidifier all set up in his room. We tested out the monitors; everything was good to go. I was really tired so I fell right to sleep. I woke up at about 1:00 in the morning and Tim was gone. So I got up and found him in the guest bedroom next to Kade's room. I woke him up and asked what he was doing in there. He said, "I just wanted to make sure we could hear him." It was so sweet that Tim secretly didn't want Kade to make the move either! Well we have made it all week now and it's going well. Tim and Kade are both making it all night in their own rooms!

He's Walking and Clapping with 2 Teeth!

Kade started taking a few steps over spring break, but this week he has really started to take off. The most steps I have counted at one time is 8. He is in such a hurry he ends of falling and crawling the rest of the way to where he is going. It's so funny to look up and see him walking around the living room. My little baby boy is growing up way too fast!
We have been working on clapping for awhile now. He just wasn't seeming interested. On Tuesday I picked him up at Ms. Lynda's and he was playing a game where you put a ball in the hole and it falls down the toy and out the bottom. She said that is his favorite toy at her house. I was watching him put the ball in and all the sudden he started clapping. I was so excited! Now he is clapping for everything. His little chubby hands are so cute when he claps them together. It's so funny how being a mom makes you so excited about little things like clapping. I just love watching him learn new things!
Kade finally has 2 teeth! These past few weeks have been pretty painful for everyone at the Bailey House. I thought we might all go crazy if those teeth didn't come in quick. His little gums were so swollen and looked so painful. We felt so bad for him and he was so FUSSY! Thank goodness for Motrin and Tylenol! It's funny to see him smile with his two little bottom teeth.
Hopefully I will post some new pictures soon; this has been a very busy week and I am so glad that tomorrow if Friday.

Wine Anyone??

Tim and I always said that when we had kids we were not going to re-arrange the house and we would just teach our children what they could and could not touch. We bought our house thinking that our back living area would be a play room and that is where the toys would stay. Well now that we are parents we realize the reality is that we were totally wrong! The entire house looks like a toy store exploded all the time and certain things around the house have had to be put up a little higher. Most of you probably know that Tim and I are very particular about the house and keeping things where they go and clean. Well, Kade has somewhat caused us to loosen up quite a bit.
One thing that we have always been pretty anal about is the carpet. We don't eat or drink on the carpet. We have a wine rack in our kitchen very close to where the kitchen and the living room meet. Neither one of us are wine drinkers, we have some wine bottles on the rack for decoration. I was in the kitchen talking to Tim on the phone when Kade crawled into the kitchen and grabbed onto the wine rack to pull himself up. He lost his balance and on his way down grabbed a wine bottle. Just as I was saying,"No, no Kade," the wine bottle fell on the tile and wine spilled out everywhere. I ran over and picked him up quick, thank goodness he was not hurt at all. He just looked at me and smiled. I put him in his bed and picked my phone back up and told Tim I had to go there was wine everywhere. The wine spilled into the living room covering a pretty big spot of the carpet. I scrubbed forever to try to get the wine up, all we had was a small bottle of carpet cleaner. The cleaner did not work well at all. I am hoping that we can find some better cleaner at the store or if anyone knows how to get wine out of the carpet please let me know. So the kitchen now smells like a bar and we have a huge purple spot on the carpet in the living room. We now have an empty wine rack in the kitchen and I am thinking it is going to stay empty until Kade goes to college!

9 months old

This weekend we had Kade's 9 month/Easter pictures taken. I was a little worried how he would do because he has really been going through the stranger anxiety thing. But, he did so good. He posed for all the pictures and had a great time laughing at the photographers. My favorite are the pictures with the bunny ears. Tim was not so thrilled with the bunny ears when I bought them, but he did admit the pictures turned out cute! Kade's hair was extra crazy this morning. We tried to fix it a little, but could not get it to lay down much. So we decided to just let his hair go natural. It was sticking up everywhere. The top is getting so long!
He is getting such a funny little personality. This week he started doing this thing where he acts like he is going to give you a kiss and then he blows on your cheek to make noise. He laughs so hard and we laugh too so he keeps doing it over and over, by the time he is done our face is covered in Kade slobber. It's so funny! Also, his new favorite thing to do when he is done eating his baby food is to spit it at you. That is not so funny when you are covered in green beans. I'm really trying to teach him not to spit his food, but after he does it he laughs his cute little laugh and it's sometimes hard for me to keep my "that's not nice" face.
He went for his 9 month check up on Tuesday. He was 20 1/3 lbs. (50th percentile) and
29 inches (90th percentile). The doctor said he was doing well. Kade got one shot and they took some blood just for a routine check. The next day they called and said his white blood cell count was slightly low and they wanted to check it in a week. The nurse said it was most likely due to the ear infection he had a while ago. Of course I started worrying right away. When you research on the Internet the worst things always come up. After talking with a few people that have had similar situations I feel a little better about it. He will go back this Tuesday for another blood test. I'm praying that everything will be normal this time. I better quit blogging for now and go get some laundry done.

Spring Break 2009

Kade and I had a great spring break! I'm so sad to see the week end and go back to the real world. After this week I am definitely counting the days until summer. The first part of the week we went with Tonya, Amanda, Patsy, and the kids to visit my grandma. She lives about 3 hours away. I think I packed the entire house to take with us for just one overnight trip. You just never know what you might need with a baby. We had fun at Memaw's house just hanging out and talking.
Other things we did over the week:
We rode the train last Saturday for Noah's birthday. He is Tim's brother's little boy and he turned 4 years old. I can't believe he is so big. Kade and I met Tim for lunch at the park one day and went shopping with Bradley. On Thursday, my friend since elementary school, Chelse came over to hang out with us. Chelse is a teacher and we hardly see each other during the school year since we are both so busy with school. It was fun catching up with her. On Saturday, we went to Kasey's first birthday party. I remember last spring break going to the hospital when she was born. Time goes by so fast! Kasey was so pretty in her pink dress.
Kade News:
He is growing so fast and thinks he is a big boy who can do anything. The boy is not afraid of anything! The week I was so excited when he started saying "mama," he has been saying "dada" for awhile. He also took TWO steps on Friday night! Kade turned 9 months on Saturday. His new thing he loves to do is throw himself on pillows we have on the floor and roll off of them. He will do this over and over rolling all around the living room just laughing so hard.

Kasey and Kade at Memaw's house in their St.Patrick's Day shirts.

I tried to spike his hair for Kasey's party, but it was a little too long.

Finally got him to be still for a quick picture, Amanda was trying hard to get him to look at the camera.

He loved playing with Kasey's baby doll. He is giving the doll a kiss, such a sweet boy. Daddy does not like this picture very much!

Growing, Growing!

We had a busy weekend! Tim's mom and her husband came into town for their granddaughter's first birthday. This past summer they moved to Florida. They spent the night with us on Friday night and then we headed to Plano for the party on Saturday. There were like 15 babies 1 year old and under at the party. It was crazy and Kade had so much fun! We went back over on Sunday to visit a little more since Tim's mom had to leave to fly back home today. So we had to say goodbye last night. Does anyone else cry when you have to say goodbye to someone for a long time? As soon as we are getting ready to leave I always feel the tears coming. I just hate goodbyes and I am such a cryer! It can be so embarrassing sometimes. When my brother was living in Lubbock for college and he would come home for a visit; I couldn't even say "goodbye" I would be crying to hard. I remember every time we used to go visit my grandma who lives about 3 hours away my mom would always cry when it was time to say goodbye. She was a cryer too, I guess that is where I get it from. I cry when I'm happy, sad, mad, whenever. Anyway we had a fun weekend and Kade is so exhausted. He had a bottle about 8:00 last night and then he just layed his head down on my shoulder, closed his eyes and was immediately asleep. He slept the whole way to Ms. Lynda's this morning and then she said he slept until 10:00. He played so much with the other babies!

Tonight I picked him up and then my brother was coming over to watch him until Tim got home; because I had to go back to school for open house. I said goodbye to him and he started crawling after me crying. He has never cried when I have left before. I of course was about to cry with him.
Here are some pictures of us trying to take an 8 month picture of Kade. Every month it's more of a challenge to get a good picture. He is growing so fast and just completely all boy!

Things Kids Say

When I listen to my students at school I think it is so funny that kids just say whatever they are thinking. I always say I wish I could write down every funny thing I hear during the day because I always forget when I get home and I'm trying to tell Tim the story. I have had a cough and a pretty bad cold for going on 2 weeks. When I woke up on Monday my eyes were very irritated. I thought great now I have pink eye. So I didn't put on any eye makeup just in case I did have pink eye. When I got to school I went to the nurse to have her check it out. She said it wasn't pink eye and it looked more related to my allergies and being sick. All during the day I heard comments from my students about my face with no make up. Somethings I heard were:
"What happened to your face?" "Are you going to get your old eyes back?" "Are you going to be okay?" When I explained that I just wasn't wearing make-up because I wanted my eyes to get better one kid said, "When will you be able to wear make-up again?"
So I guess my lesson is I better wear make-up everyday so that my students can actually learn and not have to worry about what is wrong with my face all day.
